Mutimedia- How can you use it in class?

There are 5 types of Multimedia Authoring Tools. I am going to look at all three and give suggestions on how they may be used in the classroom by a teacher or used by a student for a class.
1.      Presentation Software- this began with electronic slide show. As a teacher or student you might use Power Point, Keynote, or my favorite Prezi. A teacher may use one of these to create a presentation of new objectives to cover. He/she may have the students create a presentation project for a class assignment. One other way is create a Jeopardy game for review for the students.
2.      Video Production and Editing Systems- Teachers may have students produce a movie about a particular time in history or the life of a famous mathematician and his participation to society. A Teacher may also video tape his lecture and publish it to the web so students that were absent could view it.
3.      Hypermedia Development Software- Here teachers can create tutorials, presentations, storybooks and even websites. Students could create websites to explaining concepts and help increase their problem solving skills.
4.      Virtual Environments and Immersion Tools- Teachers can use these tools for creating a virtual field trip. A lot of museums have virtual field trips already set up for teachers to use.
5.      Web 2.0 Authoring Tools- A teacher may create a blog to help students with homework. A podcast may be used to replay a lecture. Students may create an e-Portfolio to show off their work throughout the year. Also video form YouTube can be used to introduce a topic or even present a topic.
These are just some suggestions on how Multimedia can be used in education. If you have other suggestions please post them.

Software and It Uses in Education

Technology is a great aid for teachers to use to enhance the learning of objectives for their students. The following are type of examples of software that can be used in a mathematical classroom:
·         Drill and Practice- Math.com is a great site for math teachers. I would use this site for students to practice the skills that were covered in the class. Students can try out problems and get feedback immediately
·         Tutorial- Compass Learning is a great software that I use for student to get help if they lack a skill or having problem with an objective. The teacher can set up individual assignments for students or for a group. This site is not free our district bought it.
·         Simulation- Cad and 3D is a great program for teaching perimeter, area and scale drawing. It gives great work on architecture, construction and designing.
·         Instructional Games- http://www.homeschoolmath.net/ is a great site for student to use their skills in math to play games. I would use this site for students to practice their skills and check for understanding the concepts.
·         Problem Solving- http://www.filebuzz.com/findsoftware/Free_Geometry_Solver  is a great math problem solving software.  I would use this software for students to work on their enrichment skills. Also great site for reinforcing concepts students have learned.
·         Integrated Learning Systems- Success Maker is a great teaching tool for teachers. I use this software for presenting lessons and checking of understanding of concepts covered in the lesson. It also helps the teacher track the success of their students.
